Our main objective is to promote music and the arts in East London. We’ll be presenting high quality concerts with excellent performers and working in local schools on some really interesting projects. We will also be working with local amateur and student music groups - our recent side-by-side project with students at Queen Mary University was a great success and we will return for a similar project in March 2016.
East London Music Group was set up in late 2014 and its first performance took place in February 2015 at Queen Mary University of London, Mile End. The first performance was The Soldier's Tale by Igor Stravinsky, and was a great success and an enjoyable evening for both audience and performers alike.
We will commission a new work for each of our main performances. the first was written by Edward Nesbit - a piece for us for narrator and ensemble - and was premiered at QMUL alongside William Walton's Façade in November 2015.
We are a high quality professional ensemble delivering performances in East London. Our events are accessible and inexpensive to attend - all are welcome.
We also work in schools to give young people the experience of performing alongside and learning from highly skilled arts professionals.
We are committed to development of new works and will include world premieres in the majority of our performances.
