2019 and beyond

2019 promises to be a very exciting year for East London Music Group. We’re looking forward to our first performance at Oxford Festival of the Arts, where we will premiere a new piece Frida by Paul Max Edlin, monodrama for ensemble and mezzo soprano which sets excerpts from the diaries of Frida Kahlo. Composer Paul Edlin’s works have been performed by many leading musicians and have been recorded and broadcast both in the UK and abroad. He is the Artistic Director of the Deal Festival of the Music and the Arts and Director of Music at Queen Mary University of London.

We’re also delighted to be working for a second time with Waltham Forest Music Service on a new joint project in July centred around celebrating local musical and cultural diversity. Building on our project of 2018, we will work with over 200 local primary school children in a performance celebrating cultural and musical diversity in the borough.

We’re also looking forward to a repeat performance of our recent commission 1936: an East London Uprising, by Robin Haigh, and a big project in early 2020 commissioning a brand new work in collaboration with several local community music groups. More to follow…
