We're delighted to be giving the world premiere of FRIDA by Paul Edlin - a monodrama for mezzo-soprano and chamber ensemble set to Frida Kahlo’s own words at Oxford Festival of the Arts.
FRIDA sets text from Kahlo's diary in twelve tableaux, with music scored for string quartet, piano, and mezzo-soprano. The work takes the audience on a tumultuous emotional journey from her childhood to her death, reflecting on a number of key events in her life, including her tragic accident at the age of eighteen, scenes from the Mexican Revolution, and her turbulent marriage to fellow artist Diego Rivera.
Endorsed by the Diego Rivera & Frida Kahlo Museums Trust.
