Soldiers’ Tales

  • The Octagon 327 Mile End Road London, England, E1 4NS United Kingdom (map)

On Thursday 12th February East London Music Group will present its first performance, a new adaptation of The Soldier’s Tale by Igor Stravinsky, at the Octagon, Queen Mary University of London.

The Soldier’s Tale is a witty and sardonic Faustian story of a young soldier who gives his violin to the Devil in exchange for untold wealth. This new adaptation, directed by Joseph Hardy, features recent graduates of Drama Studio London and London Contemporary Dance School, as well as some of the most outstanding young professional musicians in London.

In the first half of the concert, Stravinsky's great work becomes the inspiration for new 'tales' devised by QMUL drama students in collaboration with QMUL Music Scholars.

Tickets are priced at £5 (full) and £2 (students).

East London Music Group is a new organisation which exists to provide concerts in East London. The group works with some of the most talented young professional musicians and actors in London and plans to make a significant contribution to the artistic scene in the years ahead.
