Lockdown Miniatures
As it became clear in 2020 that the Covid lockdowns were going to last much longer than anyone initially anticipated, we were unfortunately forced to call off the two performances of Edward Nesbit’s Antigone that we had in the pipeline. While we were waiting for things to return to normal, we decided to make the best of the situation and commission some new music.
Four composers were invited to take part in the project: Charlotte Harding, Edward Nesbit, Leo Geyer, and Rūta Vitkauskaitė, each of whom brought their own distinctive styles. The resulting miniatures - just a minute each in length - are a curious snapshot from a time that was so unusual for us all to experience, yet now seems so remote.
The full playlist can be viewed here on YouTube, along with introductions from the composers.
Performers: Stef Tepper (flute), Luke Tucker (bassoon), Sarah Campbell (trumpet), Guy Button (violin), Dan Shilladay (viola), Patrick Johnson (cello).
